I'm really sorry about the problems we had over the last 30 hours.
We were forced into doing a quick upgrade of some of the software we were running because we were facing a number of hacker attacks. We ran into a number of problems and have been working intensively to resolve it - which we have now done.
I understand many of you will be really disappointed - as we are.
Ideally we would have a no. of test sites and do an organised upgrade but in this case it was deemed the upgrade was urgent - and also we don't have access to multiple servers that are as beefy as the set-up that blogsome is run on. It comes down to the fact that are resources are low - however we are determined to keep the site up and running - and we do take nightly backups of all the databases. The google ads, which can be removed, are just about paying to keep that person in coffee.
We feel we may have resolved any issues that are outstanding - and the system had been behaving in a stable manner (having resolved load issues and increasing memory etc.) until a bunch of hackers started DoS attacks and other such things against the site. Anyway I am hopeful that the site will be reasonable stable over the coming weeks. Hopefully you haven't lost faith in us and stick with us. (try not to make too nasty a comment in your blog about the latest outage).
Sorry. _________________ Blogsome Team Member

It's hard to be non-profit these days (I know the feeling), Internet tends to be highly not profitable business as it is.
I've suggested once and I'll say it again - put 2-3 ads on admin pages, I make about dozen refreshes for every post & I don't mind- should get "that guy" a beer and probably some crackers.
As for low resources - few providers allow image upload at all

Hi Roger,
Well, what can I say? If you guys are determined to keep Blogsome running I can surely state that I will be determined to keep using Blogsome for my weblog. I thoroughly enjoy the service and very powerful features you folks are offering. Top of the tops, so far ! So while I am not really happy about the outage due to obvious reasons I think you folks deserve a chance to keep things going and provide you all the support you may need.
So thanks again for the updates, for bringing Blogsome back to life, and for the continuous and committed support. We appreciate it a lot.
Cheers!
PS. Regarding head4ke's clone's suggestion I wouldn't think it would be too bad of an idea and if it is feasible we could try it out for a couple of weeks and see if it would make a difference. What do you think ? |

Glad things are back up and running.
This sort of reinforces in my mind the need for a local backup, something I could port to another host should the need ever arise (ie. you guys run out of coffee and throw in the towel).
For now, I would like to stick with you.... but is there a way I can back up my stuff? All of the previous discussions that I recall have been "it's coming..." but I'm not sure of the status.
Thanks!
Eric.

Why should we do such a thing like that?
Unfortunately there are many people that don’t have a life and the only way of getting fun is destroying things. That’s the only way that they have power…
I’m a newbie at blogsome and I’m doing some tests to move my blog to you service. I love it! Keep the good job! |
