Blogsome folks,

Your ads are not showing on my blog, I have all the info in my template, but they still don't display. Do you want to look into this?

I don't mind displaying the ads to help y'all out, but must admit, I don't feel like expending too much of my own time to maintain and fix them. If there's some easy way to get them to work, please let me know.

also, have you considered an email newsletter that people can signup for? That way when you know the system will be down or if it is down you can let people know what 's going on. What about a system status page, not on the same server ofcourse?

Y'all seem kinda mysterious, keeping a low profile, like you want to be fairly anonymous. Nothing on the dashboard, no contact page or email link on ur home page, no about us page, etc. No need to reply to this if u don't want, just an observation. I suppose I shouldn't look a gift-horse in the mouth.

Thanks for the service, Jim

Hi there,

The ads seem to be appearing now. It may have been related to our DNS problem earlier. Your proxy could find blogsome.com but maybe google couldn't. I don't know. It seems to be fixed now. Let me know if you are having any more problems.

Good idea on the email newsletter. We'll add it to our list of things to do.

We aren't being deliberately mysterious but just busy trying to juggle our time between our "profit" work and our "non-profit" (at least for the moment) work.

...and just to let you know that we are planning a changeover to WordPress 1.5 ...this should happen sometime after Sunday but I will post a note on the forum when I know more on the timing.

Ok, Top o' the morning to you and may the wind always be at your back, etc. I did a little looking around and I see you're in or from or associated with Ireland, which makes me feel good since that's where my ancestors are from. But I still think an about us page, newsletter and contact feedback form would be a nice addition. How about some pics of you and your operation? If you're not too good looking and would rather we not know, just put up a pic of some local pretty Irish lass, I'll never know the difference.

Is there a good chance you'll be hosting the free blogs for quite a while? as in at least a year?

Just in case, other than doing browser page save as, what is the best way to back up our blogs?

Good luck with your DNS problem and switch to ver 1.5

Thanks, Jim

Whoops, we're like two ships passing in the night, I musta just missed you. Thanks for the ad fix. Glad to hear you liked the newsletter idea, there might be a 25 cent or cup of coffee 'good idea fee' if I ever make it over to Ireland.

Thanks, Jim

We intend that blogsome is around for a long time. The only problems we can forsee will be related to our success and growing too fast. Also we intend updating the features as WordPress develops and there may be bugs along the way. We are examing ways of doing backups and hopefully we'll have that up and running soon. But the first priority at the moment is to get moved over to WordPress 1.5 and other upgrades.

We would put a photo up, per your request, but we're too good looking. Cool

Intermittently I am getting database connection errors when trying to edit or view blogsome blogs, or even this forum.

Are you having capacity issues?

Thanks.

Eric.

We made some changes at the weekend to our config that may or may not have worked out for the best. Also we experienced a high robot load at about 15:20 today (GMT). We are looking in to ways of decreasing the effects of these things.

Thanks RogerG.

It's still doing it intermittently, just an FYI in case you don't get automatic notifications of errors.

I really like the services of Blogsome and I try really hard to not complain about something that is free. I just hate it when I finally get that "big link" and then the site is unavailable. Smile

Keep up the good work. I also second the motion of having an email list that we could sign up for which would push out maintenance or technical information to us...

Thanks!!
Eric.
