Is there anything Blogsome can do to stop people stealing my code? I've made a template for my blog, but my 'friend' has stolen it and change the graphics slightly. You can get people's PHP code by going to, for example:
http://dansdata.blogsome.com/templates/index.html

Then you can view the source and nick the code.

If anybody's wondering, I made the template at:
http://omgwtfbbq.blogsome.com/

to put on my blog:
http://azraeluk.blogsome.com/

but then it was stolen by this retard:
http://chrisbish.blogsome.com/

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not.

This is a limitation - the only way to perhaps get around it is to include a note in your source code, something like:

The source code for this template is protected, and may not be used without permission.

Then, if someone else uses it, ask them to stop. If you have done all of the work, and haven't used someone else's code to build your page, then you may be able to ask the admins to take measures against them if they refuse. I'm not sure what Blogsome's policy is on this.

I'm generally happy for people to use my code, as long as they attribute me, and leave a link in the template.

Well, the thing is, it was made all by me, all for me. As I wasn't planning to release it to anyone else, I didn't put in anything like that.

I've given him 24 hrs to take it off before I ask blogsome to terminate his blog or forcibly stop him from using my code.

Hi,

Since am a blogsome user too, cant stop myself from commenting.

I really dont find a problem with this 'stealing'. Now a days internet is getting open source and everyone tends to share his/her stuff with others. But again I wont suggest someone to steal though. I realize what you tried to point out. But then again, you have proved your capability and I feel its just a matter of time you are going to put up some better template to send him(who ever it is) the right message. Once you do that, he is bound to acknowledge.

You see once your blog gets popular, it will be hard to keep track of all these as you will find thousands of visitors visiting your site and if a few of them steals your code, I think it will be just a simple wastage of time to find who have stolen your code.

.. I think Wink

Thanks,
Asish

You shit-faced cunt of a code stealer.
Look, you fucking reject. You have 24 hrs to take all my code off your site, or Blogsome's gonna know about it, and you can say goodbye to your precious little blog.

If you hadn't stolen my code I would've let you use my JavaScript that I spent hours making. But nope, not now.

that what i recived and anyway he said to me at school i could use it but change the colors, so id did Razz
